My name is Attorney Wm. Bradley Kellogg (Brad). I am an experienced matrimonial and family lawyer and divorce mediator, and practice law and divorce mediation in Fairfield, Connecticut.
For 34 years I have represented clients in divorce proceedings and other family matters. I fully and fairly represent the interests of my clients who are divorcing, or seeking to enforce or modify existing divorce judgments. To obtain a fair and acceptable outcome requires goals and a plan to achieve those goals. At the outset I discuss those goals with my clients and develop a plan to achieve them. I remain firm and resolute in pursuit of a fair outcome. Since there are goals and a strategy, my advocacy for my clients is purposeful and focused.
I am a skilled negotiator and an experienced and effective trial lawyer. I have successfully argued and defended appeals before both the Connecticut Supreme Court and Appellate Court. Recognizing the emotional and economic toll caused by divorce, I endeavor to negotiate a fair settlement for my clients. Unfortunately, a negotiated settlement cannot always be realized, in which case I aggressively argue and present my client's case in court.
When required I work with financial planners, accountants, appraisers and other professionals to insure that all assets, including retirement assets, are known and correctly valued.
I am also an experienced divorce mediator. A divorce mediator is a neutral professional who serves as a facilitator for couples seeking the advantages of the alternative approach of mediation, as distinguished from litigation, to dissolve their marriage. As a mediator, I help couples negotiate between themselves a mutually agreeable and fair resolution of all the issues connected with their breakup. Since there is no direct lawyer involvement, mediation is often a less costly approach.
When children are concerned, divorcing is more than dissolving a marriage, dividing property, determining support payments and deciding custody. It is also about preserving and ensuring the parent child relationship. Measures need to be taken to prevent the marriage break-up from damaging the parent child relationship, or resulting in parent child estrangement. Although the parents are no longer together, they remain part of their children's family. It is important for the parents and their children to remain involved with one another. Preservation of the parent child relationship cannot be overlooked and needs to be emphasized in the traditional divorce process, as well as in divorce mediation.
